What is H3 Chemistry?

H3 Chemistry is offered by MOE to H2 Chemistry students who wish to gain a deeper understanding in Chemistry. JC1 or Year 5 students must satisfy their schools’ criteria in order to read H3 Chemistry in JC2 or Year 6, alongside H2 Chemistry.

H3 Chemistry is designed to be a natural extension of H2 Chemistry.  As compared to H3 Pharmaceutical Chemistry (last year of exam in 2018), H3 Chemistry (exam from 2019 and onwards) is a lot more manageable due to the significant syllabus reduction (watch this space for updates on the specific syllabus reduction).

Still, H3 Chemistry is not for the faint-hearted as the new content would be taught (such as spectroscopic techniques and their principles) and the concepts taught are highly dynamic and students are expected to perform many inter-topical links. Pace of school curriculum is fast as the programme spans for about 10 months. It is challenging also because students have to juggle demands from their other academic subjects and outside-of-class commitments.

However, many past students who took H3 Chemistry felt that it provides a fulfilling and rewarding learning experience. It would also look good on your resume, especially if you do well in it. If you decided to take on H3 Chemistry and would like extra help to ensure you get the best experience and exam results, Julian Chemistry has comprehensive A Level Tuition classes that include JC2 H3 Pharm Chemistry classes.
